Visit a king at this US travel destination in Memphis, Tennessee, the “King of Rock N Roll” that is. Elvis Presley bought this mansion for $100,000 when he was 23 years old. He names it Graceland based on its history; Grace Toof’s family owned the property for over a century.

There is plenty to see at once you get here including the mansion, two personal jets, the chapel in the woods, automobile museum, racquetball court, “Heart Break Hotel”, restaurants and of course, shopping. One of the first things you have to do once you enter the gates though, is write a message to Elvis on the “Wall of Graffiti”.

Graceland

US Travel: GracelandOnce you enter the mansion, you are allowed to tour the entire downstairs area. This would include the TV room, dining room, jungle room, living room, music room and office. You will be able to view some of Elvis’s musical instruments, family pictures and personal furniture as well as some of Elvis’s clothes that are displayed through out the house. You will also be able to tour the Hall of gold, where the walls are decorated with all of Elvis Presley’s awards and gold and platinum records.

In the main lobby hangs a beautiful chandler above the staircase that leads to the bedroom upstairs. This area is off limits to the public and Lisa Marie Presley, current owner of the house has stated that there is enough of her daddy to see downstairs and upstairs will remain off limits.

Automobile Museum

It is here you will see displayed the 22 cars and motorcycles owned by Elvis; including the pink Cadillac, the Harley Davidson’s, as well as the famous MG from the movie “Blue Hawaii”. Also find the riding jackets, helmets and other paraphernalia (like the original drivers license of Elvis) also on display.

The Chapel

The chapel in the woods is a quaint place with polished pews and awe inspiring stained glass windows. You can be married there and the chapel will accommodate about two dozen guess and also has an outdoor reception area. This, of course, will not be a typical wedding with prices per wedding starting at $600,000.

The Heart Break Hotel

These rooms require booking your vacation way in advanced but what Graceland visit would be complete without a stay at the Heart Break Hotel. Basic rooms are pretty reasonable at $110 a night and you can also opt for a themed room starting at $550 a night. Maybe if you do get a room you can claim as thousands do each year, to see Elvis’s ghost roaming the halls.

Jets, Movie or Racquetball?

Also on display is the two jets called the Lisa Marie and the Hound Dog 2. Both jets are fullyGraceland Tour equipped with bedrooms, living are and bathrooms. Also visit the movie room and enjoy a 20 minute movie about the movie career and music of Elvis Presley. Lastly there is the 2-story racquetball club featuring more awards and records of the “King of Rock N Roll”

This US Travel destination is a must for any Elvis Presley fan or music buff in general. The mansion, the grounds and all the sites are amazing and a must see if in the Memphis, Tennesse area.
