If you are looking for more outdoor adventures in a higher elevation environment, The Cascade Range is a 700 mile interior mountain range full of outdoor activities. Oregon’s highest mountain is Mount Hood towering at 11,237 feet and very popular with hikers, climbers and skiers. The Lakes of Mount Hood are legendary for fly fishing along with horseback riding, golf, camping and mountain biking. There are several national forests in the area as well as the Columbia River Gorge, which is the 80 mile border between Oregon and Washington.
If you are just looking to spend the day site seeing, the Columbia River Highway is about a 2 hour drive that wonderful views of the Columbia River including the awesome site of the Multnomah Falls. The falls are the second highest year around water fall in the US and drop a breathtaking 620 feet from its beginning on Larch Mountain. After a day of hiking and walking the many paths around the falls, you can rest and dine at The Lodge, which was built in 1925.
